Even though it’s tucked away in a corner next to the shiny Blue Lagoon Hotel & Marina, Flowt does, in fact, sit on a quiet, pretty, if compact, beach.
It’s a comfortable, laid-back vibe, with picnic tables and Muskoka chairs* scattered on the sand among shade-giving trees and palapas, or on the large wooden deck. There’s plenty of room to stretch out or find your own quiet corner. Drinks are served from a small, covered wooden bar. Clientele is a chatty mix of taxi drivers, other locals, ex-pats and sea-weary yachties.
What will you have?
This is essentially a beer and rum place, with good prices on both.
Beers: Emphasis on the ubiquitous double H’s of St. Vincent – Hairoun and Heineken.
Rums: St. Vincent’s-own Sparrow (gold) and SLR (white). Captain Bligh XO from the same distiller at the top end.
Food: Good choice of smaller bites and a selection of grilled local dishes (fish, conch, shrimp, jerk pork).
Asides
There are a couple of nice, fancier restaurants steps away at the marina.
Reflections…
No frills, no pressure, gently lapping waves – a charming little oasis.
*Adirondack chairs for you non-Canadians.
