The terrace/bar at Keegan’s sits right on Lower Bay beach, with a more traditional restaurant across the road attached to the small guest house. It’s a well-shaded structure, with tables for small or large parties. It’s just a few steps away from the water and is a popular place, both with locals and tourists. It’s not very big, but the food is good and their service efficient, and they keep things moving along. One unique feature is that Keegan’s serves an all-day full English breakfast, complete with eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans – the first I’ve ever come across in a Caribbean beach bar. They call it the Full Messenjah. I happily tucked in, much to my wife’s amusement.
What will you have?
Basic Caribbean fare plus, but well executed.
Beers: Hairoun, Carib, Heineken, Corona (the later at a premium price).
Cocktails: Focus on rum-based drinks featuring Sparrow and SLR, supported by a full, if basic, range of spirits.
Food: A good selection of comfort foods (burgers, wings, etc.) and island dishes (salads, fish, lobster rolls, etc.), plus the aforementioned all-day breakfast.
Asides
Lower Bay is one of the main attractions for taxi drivers and tours targeting the larger cruise ship passengers, so it can get pretty busy when one or more are in harbour – especially at lunch time
Reflections…
Comfortable, no nonsense place, with a lively and efficient staff.
