New Providence, or Nassau as it is more frequently referred to, is by far the liveliest and most diverse of the many islands that make up the Bahamas. In fact, it’s fair to say that for many people, Nassau (including Paradise Island) is the Bahamas.

It is easy to quickly feel at home in Nassau, with its wide variety of accommodations (many on gorgeous beaches), restaurants and activities. Sure, it can be busy and ‘touristy’ at times but look a little deeper and you’ll find a lot more. Nassau is rich in history and culture, and there are some unique under-the-radar hotels and resorts that may surprise you.

Photo: Look beyond Nassau’s glitzy, bustling exterior and you’ll find some cultural and historical treasures, like the venerable Graycliff Hotel.
