Tortola is the largest and busiest of the British Virgin Islands. Mind you, very few things are ever really busy anywhere in the BVI. Tortola is blessed with rolling green hills, white sand beaches and a myriad of terrific views of its island neighbours.
The accommodation scene has improved considerably in recent years, with a good, if not terribly extensive, selection of nice hotels and resorts. And of course, Tortola is the jumping off spot for visiting the other BVIs, as well as the US Virgin Islands. All just a ferry ride away.
Photo: There are spectacular views to be found throughout Tortola, like this one of Carrot Bay.
