Abaco, or the Abacos, to be precise, is a chain of islands located about 90km or a 25-minute flight from Nassau. Abaco is known for its great fishing, snorkelling, and sailing. It is a yachters paradise. But even for landlubbers like us, there is plenty on offer. Charming settlements like Hope Town on Elbow Cay, and world-famous beach bars like Grabbers on Great Guana Cay and Miss Emily’s Blue Bee Bar on Green Turtle Cay are just a few of the attractions.
Abaco was hit hard by Hurricane Dorian in 2019, but the Bahamians are resilient people and the rebuilding efforts have been amazing. Hotels, restaurants, bars, and marinas are back up and running throughout the chain.
