Jost Van Dyke, or just Jost, as the locals call it, is a tiny member of the British Virgin Islands laying just off the main island of Tortola. If you don’t have your own boat, it’s a 25-minute ferry ride. And one that’s well worth it. At least if you love beaches and bars.

As far as beach bars go, this little island punches well above its weight, with world famous names like Foxy’s, the Soggy Dollar and Ivan’s Stress Free Bar among others. There is a beautiful stretch of beach at White Bay (take a taxi from the ferry dock – it’s a short but challenging walk). Beaches and bars aside, there’s not much else to do on Jost. But for many (myself included), that’s more than enough.
