Martinique is the most ‘French’ of the handful of islands that comprise the French Caribbean. But the gallic traditions blend intriguingly with island culture to good effect. From Martinique’s customs and vibrant Zouk music to the excellent Creole dining, the mix is visible throughout the island.

As for the island itself, it is one of impressive natural beauty. In addition to some excellent beaches and a variety of watersports, Martinique offers hiking trails, canyoning and mangrove tours, and is fast becoming a haven for eco-tourists.
