Mustique really is an idyllic place, with pristine beaches, luxury private villas and a handful of stylish accommodation options. Although part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Mustique is actually managed by a corporation, which may explain why things seem to run so seamlessly.
It takes some effort (and money) to get to Mustique, but if you can, its worth it, even if just for the day. The island is beautiful, the pace leisurely and the vibe super cool. And, of course, there’s Basil’s, one of the Caribbean’s most iconic beach bars.
Photo: Basil’s Bar on Mustique has welcomed guests as diverse as Princess Margaret, Mick Jagger, Tommy Hilfiger… and me.
