Harbour Island is a tiny island lying off Eleuthera in the Bahamas (it’s actually part of Eleuthera). The narrow passage between the two can be crossed in five minutes by one of the many water taxis that buzz around. But once you step out of the boat, you will find yourself in another world.

While Eleuthera is simple, low key and laid back, Harbour Island is glitzy, glamorous and trendy. There are 5-star resorts, stylish boutique hotels, fine dining restaurants and a handful of fancy shops.  Its pricey and can be very busy at times, but there’s no denying that Harbour Island is a lot of fun.  And, of course, there is that famous Pink Sands Beach, which really can be quite stunning.

Photo: The world-famous Pink Sands Beach really does live up to its name.
